Homeschool Field Trips – how to make them more economical

I have dreams of taking my children on fantastic, educational, inspiring field trips. Zoos, museums, historical towns, nature walks, there is so much available yet we are limited in time and funds.

Some places are nearby, so a day trip is possible. But some more interesting places may take a day or two to travel to and explore, which makes the costs higher.

Well, I found a good way to try to cut costs and STILL get away for that dream field trip that you’ve been dying to take your family to. I subscribe to a neat service called Mamasource, its like Groupon for moms.

Here is a link to their newest offer:

Basically, you buy a $100 gift card to Travelocity for $50. You can get more than one (I got two)! For example, if we want to drive to a place that would require an overnight stay, I can book a cheap room on Travelocity and use the gift card to pay for it.

Here’s an example: my husband recently went to Zephyrhills, FL with our children to do some homeschool testing, and visit some neat sights in the area. They stayed overnight in a hotel for $50 a night. With this card, they would have been able to stay 2 nights, and only have paid $50.

The gift card is good for a year – so you have lots of time to plan out your trip. (P.S. it is also a neat way to surprise your spouse with an overnight getaway)

I got two $100 Travelocity Hotel Gift Cards for $50/each at Mamasource – use code AUGUST10 to get an extra 10% off :
